Concentration piece 6

This is my sixth concentration piece. This picture is of sheep across from Mont Saint Michel. I created this work with oil paint. This painting has an impressionistic quality. The clear focal point of the painting is the sheep in the foreground because they are isolated. There are also many horizontal lines, creating a feeling of stability and calmness.

Concentration piece 5

This is my fifth concentration piece. I again painted a scene in the French countryside, and I used the medium of oil paint. In the foreground of my painting, there are students walking to a new location to paint. In the background and middle ground, there are organic shapes, giving the painting visual interest. I used low-intensity colors in this painting, in order to create a calm mood and atmosphere. Also, I used repetition of free-form shapes to create unity and rhythm in the painting.

My Concentration

A concentration is a body of work united by "a body of work unified by an underlying idea that has visual coherence." My concentration is of the French countryside. I chose this concentration because I visited France this summer and loved it. Also, I enjoy oil painting and thought that scenes in the French countryside would be beautiful to paint. I thought that I could develop this theme over time, painting various landscapes and scenes and showing the beauty of the country.
